The Federal Transit Administration has made $28.5 million available in grant funding for transit-oriented development (TOD) projects.
Applications are due July 10. First launched in 2015, the pilot program for TOD planning provides competitive grant funding at an 80% match for projects that aim to improve public safety; stimulate public-private partnerships and new research; and increase transit access for families, U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) officials said in a press release.
Grants can only be used to fund planning activities for proposed TOD projects, including data collection, needs assessments, plan development and alternative analyses.
The planning studies should support projects that increase access to transit hubs and support mixed-use development, USDOT officials added.
