Bombardier will design, supply, install and commission wayside and onboard CITYFLO 350 equipment and 15 trains to run on the 13.3-mile line. Bombardier will provide an EBI Cab 200 onboard automatic train protection system; EBI Lock 950 computer-based interlocking systems; and EBI Track 200 track circuit and EBI Switch 700 point machine field elements. • IMPulse NC L.L.C. recently promoted Jeffrey Wharton to president. Wharton, who previously served as IMPulse’s executive vice president and general manager, has more than 30 years of transit construction and manufacturing experience. A Marmon Group/Berkshire Hathaway company, IMPulse designs and manufactures overhead contact system hardware for the mass transit industry.

• Alstom, Russian Railways and Transmashholding recently signed a technology/production cooperation protocol pact. “The first [Pendolino tilting train] is already complete, and we hope that by the end of the year it will pass technical and certification tests,” said Russian Railways President Vladimir Yakunin in a prepared statement, adding that Russian Railways-Alstom want to “jointly create” a prototype of a new EP20 electric locomotive by year’s end.

• Dean Wise has resigned from RailRunner N.A. Inc.’s board. On Feb. 1, he became BNSF Railway Co.’s vice president of network strategy. Wise had been on RailRunner’s board since 2000.

• Ross Schmucki recently joined the volunteer staff of OnTrackAmerica. A mediator and arbitrator, Schmucki served as corporate counsel at DuPont Corp. from 1988 to 2007. A non-profit venture, OnTrackAmerica “seeks to promote dialogue, collaboration and consensus among interested public and private sectors to facilitate increased, efficient use of rail freight transportation in America,” according to a prepared statement.
