• L.B. Foster Co. recently received a $5.3 million contract from the Northern New England Passenger Rail Authority to supply 5,561 tons of rail for the Downeaster-Portland North project in Maine. Construction on the project began in July and is expected to be completed by 2012's end.

• FreightCar America Inc. appointed Joseph McNeely chief financial officer to succeed Christopher Nagel, who left the company. McNeely previously was vice president at Mitsui Rail Capital L.L.C.

• Parsons Brinckerhoff has named Sallye Perrin vice president. She will serve as the firm’s strategic pursuit manager for the development of public-private partnerships throughout the United States and Canada, with a focus on transportation. Perrin previously helped form a public-private partnership for the development of four new transit lines in Houston.

• OSI Systems Inc. announced that its security division, Rapiscan Systems, has been awarded a $5 million contract to provide an Eagle Rail Inspection Scanner — which is designed to scan rail cars — and associated construction and civil works to an eastern European customer.

• DriveCam Inc. announced that the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority has contracted the company to provide behavior-based risk mitigation systems to help reduce vehicle damage, workers’ compensation claims and personal injuries.

• Cambridge Systematics Inc. recently worked in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Transportation and Cheyenne Metropolitan Planning Organization on two of the 11 projects that received 2010 Transportation Planning Excellence Awards — the Minnesota Comprehensive Freight and Passenger Rail Plan and the Cheyenne Transportation Safety Management Plan.
