WMATA to allow online access to SmarTrip information

advertisement

Last week, the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) announced that SmarTrip users may soon be able to access their information online.

WMATA’s Policy, Program Development and Intergovernmental Relations Committee gave preliminary approval to revisions to WMATA’s privacy policy, allowing riders to access their SmarTrip information.

For riders to be able to access their SmarTrip information online, WMATA will collect the name, address, date of birth, phone number and email address associated with the cardholder. They then will need to establish a user name, password, responses to three security questions and a digital signature to confirm that he or she is the registered card user.

WMATA’s board is expected to vote on the policy revision April 22.
