The American Public Transportation Association (APTA) has recognized Cliff Henke, senior principal technical specialist at Parsons Brinckerhoff, as the 2012 Outstanding Public Transportation Business Member of the Year.

Henke was honored for his involvement in APTA's government affairs programs, his work to establish and grow the transit industry's standards program, and his expertise in technology development and forecasting, Parson Brinckerhoff officials said in a prepared statement.

He has served as chair and co-chair of the APTA government affairs committee, and is an active member of the association's legislative steering committee. In 2003, Henke was appointed to the APTA Standards Development Oversight Council, on which he continues to serve as a council representative.

He developed a white paper on international public transport operations and maintenance models. The paper's recommendation's were adopted as part of APTA's policy positions for the federal transportation authorization legislation.

Henke has led Parson Brinckerhoff's market initiatives involving streetcars and bus rapid transit in the United States.
