Belt Railway of Chicago names Peck as president, GM

The Belt Railway Co. of Chicago (BRC) last week announced it has named Jerry Peck president and general manager. Peck brings more than 40 years of experience in the railroad industry to the BRC.
He started his career in 1973 with the Illinois Central Railroad as a trainman and conductor. His experience also includes 11 years as GM of CN and three years as GM of Canadian Pacific's (now Canadian Pacific Kansas City) U.S. East region, according to a BRC press release.
Most recently, Peck worked as a management consultant for Loram Corp.
“Many people don’t realize the magnitude of importance that Chicago and the BRC plays in our economy and supply chains,” said Peck. “I’m confident that my background and experience in operations, planning, and execution will serve the BRC well and will help develop the next generation of leaders in the railroad industry.”
During the past several years, the BRC has worked closely with partners at the state, local and federal levels to streamline railroad shipments as part of the Chicago Region Environmental and Transportation Efficiency (CREATE) program. Peck will be responsible for continuing these partnerships and ensuring the BRC’s vitality for the future, BRC officials said.
Peck succeeds Percy Fields, who had served as the BRC's leader for more than two years.
