The California High-Speed Rail Authority (CHSRA) has named Scott Jarvis assistant chief program manager to oversee project delivery, transportation and commercial planning, right-of-way and environmental planning. He will report to Frank Vacca, the authority's chief program manager.

Jarvis most recently served the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) as assistant chief of construction. In that role, he oversaw and executed a statewide construction program, which consisted of 650 projects valued at more than $12 billion. Prior to that job, he held other management positions at Caltrans since starting with the department as an engineer in 1986.

"Scott Jarvis has extensive background knowledge in multiple areas for major transportation projects in California, including contract management and engineering," said CHSRA Chief Executive Officer Jeff Morales in a prepared statement. "His breadth of knowledge, combined with his many years of experience ensures that he will provide the authority with much needed expertise unmoving this first-in-the-nation project forward."
