The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority's (RTA) board yesterday appointed Floun'say Caver as interim chief executive officer and general manager.

He's slated to serve from Sept. 1 until March 1 while the board conducts a search to fill the position permanently, according to a GCRTA press release.

Joseph Calabrese, the agency's current leader, is slated to move into a senior advisory role in September.

In 2000, Caver first joined the agency as budget management analysis, then left in 2002 to earn a doctorate degree from the University of Texas at Dallas. He returned in 2006 as GCRTA's manager of budgets.

The agency named Caver chief operating officer and deputy GM of operations in October 2017. In that role, he oversees nearly 2,000 GCRTA employees and an annual budget of $218 million.

"[Caver's] capabilities are an excellent fit to this organization, and I look forward to assisting him during this transition," said Calabrese.
