Canada's government yesterday announced two appointments to its Transportation Safety Board (TSB).

Paul George Dittmann was named to a four-year term starting May 1. Joseph Hincke was reappointed to a three-year term starting April 9, according to a press release issued by Minister of Democratic Institutions Karina Gould.

Gould congratulated Dittmann and Hincke on their appointments.

"Their knowledge and experience will be valuable assets to the TSB as it carries out its mandate of advancing marine, pipeline, rail and air transportation safety by conducting independent investigations, identifying safety deficiencies, and making recommendations to eliminate or reduce such deficiencies," she said.

Hincke was first appointed to the board in April 2012 and again in April 2016.

An independent agency, the TSB reports to Parliament through the Minister of Democratic Institutions.
