The Intermodal Association of North America (IANA) will present its former CEO Joni Casey with the 2025 Silver Kingpin award during the annual Intermodal EXPO in Long Beach, California, Sept. 15-17.

During Casey's 27-year term as CEO, IANA's membership surpassed 1,000. The organization also expanded its intermodal information services and championed its university scholarship program now named in her honor,  IANA officials said in a press release. Casey retired from IANA at the end of 2024.

The Silver Kingpin Award recognizes an individual's long-term contributions to the intermodal industry. It's considered the industry's most prestigious award, IANA officials said.

Prior to joining IANA, Casey was executive director of the American Trucking Association's intermodal council and the president and CEO of the Transportation Intermediaries Association.

"Joni left an indelible mark on the intermodal industry,” said Anne Reinke, IANA's current president and CEO. “She wasn’t just a remarkable association executive — she was a visionary who helped grow IANA’s information services. Her dedication and leadership will be remembered and felt throughout the industry for years to come.”

Previous Silver Kingpin award winners include BNSF Railway Co. President and CEO Katie Farmer; Larry Gross, the president and founder of Gross Transportation Consulting; Steve Branscum, a retired BNSF intermodal executive; Ted Prince, co-founder of and chief strategy officer for Tiger Cool Express, and a former IANA chair; Barry Michaels, formerly Union Pacific Railroad's vice president of intermodal operations; Robert Huffman, a former Norfolk Southern Railway VP of intermodal; Clarence Gooden, formerly CSX's executive VP and chief commercial officer; James Hertwig, the former president and CEO of Florida East Coast Railway; and Frank Richter, Progressive Railroading's co-founder who died in 2013.
