Former New York Gov. Paterson joins MTA's board

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has appointed former New York Gov. David Paterson to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s (MTA) board.

Paterson succeeds Nancy Shevell, who served on the board from June 2001 through January 2012. Paterson’s term will expire in 2017.

Paterson served as New York’s 55th governor from 2008 to 2010. During his tenure, he “successfully negotiated an MTA financial package that avoided painful service reductions” for riders, MTA officials said in a prepared statement.
