The California Association of Port Authorities (CAPA) announced last week that its board elected Noel Hacegaba as its next president.
Hacegaba is chief operating officer of the Port of Long Beach and will become its CEO on Jan. 1, 2026, following the departure of current CEO Mario Cordero.
CAPA's board elected Hacegaba unanimously at the organization's annual meeting. He succeeds Kristine Zortman, executive director of the Port of Redwood City, who served as CAPA president from 2023 to 2025, according to a Port of Long Beach press release.
In his role as CAPA president, Hacegaba will speak on behalf of California's 11 deep-water ports. Combined, the California ports handle 38% of all containerized imports and 28% of all exports in the United States, port officials said. CAPA also maintains formal agreements with the Federal Maritime Commission on behalf of its members.
The Pacific Harbor Line serves the ports of Long Beach and Los Angeles and connects to BNSF Railway and Union Pacific Railroad.
