The Port of New Orleans Board of Commissioners last week elected new officers, with William Langenstein III serving as chairman.

Also selected were Charles Ponstein as vice chairman and Jack Jensen Jr. as secretary-treasurer.

Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards appointed Langenstein — a tax, corporate and transaction attorney at Chaffe McCall LLP — to the board in February 2018. As chairman, he succeeds Darryl Berger, whose term expired this month. Berger will continue to serve as a board commissioner until his five-year term ends in February 2022.

With the alignment of the port and New Orleans Public Belt Railroad in February 2018, port commissioners also serve on the New Orleans Public Belt Railroad Commission. Langenstein will serve as chairman; Ponstein, vice chairman; and Berger, secretary-treasurer, of that body.
