MARTA's board elects officers, welcomes new members
The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority's board last week announced new officers and members for 2023.
The new board will be seated next month. Governor appointee Thomas Worthy will serve as chairman, and Katie Powers, the board’s Clayton County representative, will serve as vice chair. The other newly officers elected are Al Pond as secretary; Rod Frierson, treasurer; and Rita Scott, immediate past chair.
MARTA's board also recognized long-serving members Robbie Asche and Reginald Snyder from Atlanta, who will step down. Clayton County member Roberta Abdul-Salaam’s term will end in January. A former chair, Ashe has served on the board for 12 years.
Their many contributions to the agency include guidance on the expansion of service into Clayton County and the More MARTA Atlanta referendum and expansion, said MARTA General Manager and CEO Collie Greenwood in a press release.
MARTA's board includes 13 voting members representing Clayton, DeKalb and Fulton counties, and the city of Atlanta, and two ex-officio members from the Georgia Department of Transportation and Georgia Regional Transportation Authority.
