Effective Sept. 2, Jonathan Davis will become acting general manager of the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) and rail and transit administrator of the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT), MBTA officials announced in a prepared statement.

Davis will assume the new role when outgoing MBTA GM Richard Davey takes over as secretary and chief executive officer of MassDOT.

Davis has been MBTA’s chief financial officer for more than 10 years. He directs the agency’s financial management and accounting functions, manages the operating and capital budgets and oversees revenue collection. He also provides financial counsel to the GM and MBTA’s board.

Prior to joining MBTA, Davis worked for 25 years at H.P. Hood Inc., where he held various positions, including vice president, controller and treasurer.

“Jon’s deep knowledge of the financial and operational facets of MBTA will serve us well as we continue our focus on safety, service employees, fiscal responsibility and innovation,” Davey said.
