Mass Coastal Railroad (MCRR) this week announced that John Anderson has been hired as director of engineering.

Anderson has more than 20 years of experience in railroad maintenance, construction and railroad operations, Mass Coastal officials said in a news release.

"John Anderson brings decades of experience as a leader in the rail industry. I look forward to working with John to ensure the continued maintenance and safety of our tracks," said MCRR President and CEO Chris Podgurski.

As director of engineering, Anderson's responsibilities will include monitoring and implementing the rail’s ongoing maintenance needs, establishing updated protocols for emergent and nonemergent incidents and maintaining a company-wide inventory of all assets and supplies.

Anderson has served in leadership positions at Union Pacific Railroad, BNSF Railway Co. and Watco.

Mass Coastal provides freight-rail and logistics services to businesses and industries along the south coast of Massachusetts and in southern New England.
