The Southern California Regional Rail Authority's (SCRRA) board last week elected Brian Humphrey as chair, Ara Najarian as vice chair and Larry McCallon as second vice chair. All three will serve one-year terms unless they’re re-elected in 2020 to a second term.

Humphrey succeeds outgoing Chair Andrew Kotyuk, who represents the Riverside County Transportation Commission. A Ventura County Transportation Commission representative, Humphrey has served the Los Angeles Fire Department for 33 years and currently serves as public information officer and public safety ambassador.

He joined Metrolink's board in 1997 and is the longest-serving member. SCRRA is Metrolink's governing body.

"This is such an exciting time in Metrolink's history, with the full implementation of positive train control to couple with Metrolink's unsurpassed commitment to safety," Humphrey said in a press release.

First elected to the Glendale City Council in 2005, Najarian has served as the city's mayor on three occasions, most recently in 2016. A Metrolink board member between 2007 and 2012, he was reappointed in 2013.

McCallon, who chaired Metrolink's board in 2014, was elected to the Highland City Council in 2002 and served as the city's mayor from 2011 to 2013. He is a past president of the Southern California Association of Governments.
