MxV Rail, a subsidiary of the Association of American Railroads, has hired Lee Nelson to lead the Security and Emergency Response Training Center (SERTC) at the campus in Pueblo, Colorado.
As executive director, Nelson will oversee SERTC's hazardous materials training programming. SERTC was established in 1985 and offers full-scale, immersive professional development opportunities, MxV Rail officials said in a press release.
Nelson has more than 20 years of experience in hazmat emergency response to the role. He began his career at the SERTC, where he worked from 2004 to 2006 as a hazmat instructor and tank car specialist.
Most recently, he was director of operations at environmental management company Ambipar's Advanced Rail Training Center. Other highlights of his career include positions at Emergency Response Assistance Canada and CN.
"I'm excited to return to an organization that sets the gold standard for hazmat training and emergency response preparedness," said Nelson.
