The Short Line Safety Institute (SLSI) has promoted Jill Medeiros to chief administrative officer. In her new role, Medeiros will be responsible for compliance with the Federal Code of Regulations Part 200 and the entire lifecycle of federal grant awards, from application to closeout. In addition, she will oversee SLSI's day-to-day operations, such as developing and improving policies and procedures to ensure smooth operations, financial reporting and grant compliance. For the past decade, Medeiros has strengthened the SLSI's processes, including managing an expanding grant portfolio, improving team onboarding, overseeing accounting and auditing functions, and coordinating workflow with legal counsel, SLSI Executive Director Tom Murtha said in a press release.
The Midwest Association of Rail Shippers (MARS) elected new officers at its winter meeting held in January. They are: Luke Jones of GATX Corp. as president; Monica Freeman of CHS Inc. as first vice president; Bryan Vaughan of Modern Rail Capital LLC as second VP; and Steve Blinn as immediate past president. New members of the MARS Executive Committee are: Alin Campian, R. J. Corman Railroad Group; Jonathan Griffiths, Nestle Purina PetCare Co.; Naomi Iwashita, CPKC; Brett Jensen, Watco; Patrick Seger, PPG Protective & Marine Coatings; and Danny Trusner, Molson Coors.
