R. J. Corman Railroad Group earlier this week hosted members of the Surface Transportation Board for a tour of the company’s rail yard in Lexington, Kentucky.

The STB representatives — Chairman Martin Oberman, Vice Chairman Karen Hedlund, members Patrick Fuchs and Michelle Schultz and attorney adviser Jetta Sandin — met with company officials and toured the yard, which is part of R. J. Corman’s Central Kentucky Lines Network (RJCC), a longstanding partnership with CSX.

The STB members and R. J. Corman officials discussed RJCC freight and mechanical activity, the line's growth since R. J. Corman began operations, upcoming plans to expand the yard and the company’s 50th anniversary. They later visited and toured R. J. Corman’s headquarters in Nicholasville, Kentucky, company officials said in a press release.

Meanwhile, Herzog Technologies Inc. (HTI) last week hosted U.S. Rep. Troy Nehls (R-Texas) for a tour of HTI’s facility in Fort Worth, Texas. HTI provides technological solutions to the rail industry. Nehls chairs the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee's Subcommittee on Railroads, Pipelines and Hazardous Materials.

Nehls and those participating in the tour talked about the services HTI provides, touched on the economic benefit the company provides Texas and the nation and the importance of safety culture to HTI and the entire Herzog team, according to a press release issued by the National Railroad Construction and Maintenance Association (NRC) and the Railway Engineering-Maintenance Suppliers Association (REMSA).

HTI is a member of NRC and REMSA. Company officials who met with Nehls included Jim Hanlon, HTI president; Jim Hansen, Herzog Contracting Corp. chief commercial officer; and Troy Elbert, Herzog Services Inc. senior vice president of quality assurance and rail detection innovation.
