The North County Transit District (NCTD) has appointed Deborah Castillo manager of marketing and communications.

Castillo, who has been serving as interim manager of marketing and communications since April, has extensive public sector experience. She was hired by the agency in September 2011 as a marketing representative specializing in business development, NCTD officials said in a prepared statement.

In her new role, she will oversee news media inquiries, marketing service contracts, graphic design and promotion.

A native of San Diego, Calif., Castillo has 23 years of experience in marketing, communications and consultation. She began her career in 1989 in San Diego County’s Office of Public Works.
