Sound Transit's CEO selection committee has recommended Julie Timm as the agency's next top leader.

Timm is CEO of Greater Richmond Transit Co. in Richmond, Virginia. She’s known as a collaborative leader who forges strong bonds with the community, capital partners and the agency’s 400 employees, Sound Transit officials said in a press release.

Prior to her current post, Timm served in several executive roles, including chief development officer for WeGo Public Transit in Nashville, Tennessee, and transit development officer and Title VI and environmental justice compliance officer for Hampton Roads Transit in Norfolk, Virginia. She also has worked in private-sector roles involved in developing transit and highway projects in North Carolina.

"Julie Timm's deep experience, leadership skills and passion for public transportation will make her a great leader for Sound Transit as we work to deliver the largest transit expansion program in the nation and dramatically expand our operations in the years ahead," said Sound Transit Chair Kent Keel.

Sound Transit's board will consider Timm's nomination on June 23. If approved, she will succeed Peter Rogoff, who served as CEO for more than six years. Rogoff announced last year that he would step down at the end of May 2022. Brooke Belman is now acting CEO.
