TriMet has promoted Andrew Wilson from director of risk management to executive director of safety and security. He succeeds Marla Blagg, who retired in November.
Wilson has served TriMet since 2016 and has filled in as interim director of safety and environmental services this year. He has managed the agency’s risk management department for the past five-and-a-half years.
Wilson is credited with creating TriMet’s first enterprise risk register, which is a comprehensive online portal that captures hundreds of high-impact risks and their associated mitigation strategies. He also led the agency’s COVID-19 response last year and its operations during wildfire events.
“Andrew has proven himself a critical member of [our] team, providing excellent leadership and direction in risk management, as well as crisis management,” said TriMet General Manager Sam Desue Jr. in a press release. “His decades of experience in identifying, managing and reducing risk and his commitment to safety will benefit our riders, employees and the communities we serve.”Prior to joining TriMet, Wilson worked in the insurance industry.
