The Tri-County Metropolitan Transportation District of Oregon (TriMet) has appointed Roland Hoskins executive director of maintenance operations, effective April 9.

He now is assistant general manager of administration at Lane Transit District (LTD) in Eugene, Oregon.

At TriMet, Hoskins will manage the agency's $129 million maintenance efforts, including for light-rail vehicles, fixed-route buses and nonrevenue vehicles. He'll also lead TriMet's ongoing maintenance and infrastructure investments in the MAX light-rail system.

Hoskins brings more than three decades of experience in business management, human resources, labor relations and organizational development. He has been with LTD since January 2015.

"Maintenance is the backbone of our operations and as we expand transit service, we must increase our maintenance workforce to continue providing safe and reliable service," said TriMet General Manager Doug Kelsey.

Hoskins' appointment marks Kelsey's first hire as TriMet's new general manager. Last week, the agency's board began negotiating a contract with Kelsey and officially appointed him to the position earlier this week.
