Virginia Transportation Secretary Shep Miller has selected Zach Trogdon to serve as acting director of the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT). Trogdon succeeds Jennifer DeBruhl, who retired.

Trogdon has led DRPT's public transportation team for nearly two years, according to a department newsletter. Prior to joining the department, Trogdon served as executive director of the Williamsburg Area Transit Authority starting in June 2017. He has decades of experience in the public sector.

"I know Zach is well equipped for this role and I very much appreciate his leadership and dedication to the agency as he steps into this key position," Miller said.

DeBruhl announced in December 2023 that she would retire in June 2024. Gov. Glenn Youngkin appointed her as DRPT's executive director in June 2022.
