On Friday, Genesee & Wyoming Inc. (GWI) announced Vice President of Government and Industry Affairs Jerry Vest has assumed EVP of Government and Industry Affairs Robert Grossman’s responsibilities.

EVP since 2002, Grossman will continue to serve part time as VP of government and industry affairs for GWI’s Oregon Region. Between 1979 and 2002, he was chairman, president and chief executive officer of Emons Transportation Group, a short-line holding company Grossman founded in 1971.

In 2005, Vest joined GWI as VP of government and industry affairs. He previously served Conrail, CSX Transportation and Canadian National Railway Co. in various capacities, and was VP and general manager for Great Lakes Transportation.

“Jerry brings broad rail experience to the job and has worked closely with Robert under a succession plan over the last year,” said GWI Chairman and CEO Mortimer Fuller III in a prepared statement.

GWI owns and operates regionals and short lines in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Australia and Bolivia.
