Week No. 32 wasn’t much different than the 31 prior weeks for U.S. railroads. During the week ending Aug. 15, their originated carloads declined 17.1 percent to 276,488 units and intermodal volume tumbled 18.4 percent to 193,488 units compared with totals from the same week last year, according to Association of American Railroads (AAR) data.

Canadian railroads reported weekly volume of 62,796 carloads, down 21.7 percent, and 42,828 containers and trailers, down 16.7 percent. Mexican railroads’ weekly carloads decreased 10.6 percent to 12,039 units and intermodal volume fell 15 percent to 5,803 units.
