BLE, Grand Trunk Railroad reach apprentice training agreement

Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers Feb. 1 reached an agreement with Grand Trunk Western Railroad (GTW), enabling union representatives to attend the railroad’s apprentice-engineer training classes.
BLE officials believe representatives then could familiarize apprentices with their rights and obligations in relation to training and promotions under agreements between GTW and BLE.
The agreement, which was ratified by BLE-represented GTW workers, also establishes a union-shop provision.
GTW is a subsidiary railroad of Canadian National Railway Co.
