BNSF reassigns Langston, Burchfield to AVP posts; Pierce assumes BLET's presidency

BNSF Railway Co. recently named Douglas Langston assistant vice president of service design to succeed Tom Williams, who recently became AVP of industrial products sales.

Langston, who joined BNSF predecessor Burlington Northern Railroad in 1989, most recently was both general director of marketing and AVP of intermodal and automotive equipment. He will report to Vice President of Service Design and Performance Rollin Bredenberg.

BNSF also named Karen Burchfield AVP of intermodal and automotive equipment to succeed Langston. Most recently both general director of grain operations and general superintendent of transportation, she will report to VP of Business Unit Operations Fritz Draper.

Meanwhile, Dennis Pierce last week became the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen’s (BLET) 23rd president. Now national president of the 147-year-old union, he succeeds Paul Sorrow, who retired. Pierce also recently was elected president of the Teamsters Rail Conference.

In addition, the BLET elected Vice President E. L. "Lee" Pruitt as first vice president and alternate president to succeed Pierce. Pruitt most recently was a national vice president assigned to the Union Pacific territory.
