On March 20, Surface Transportation Board Vice Chairman Wayne Burkes resigned to campaign in Mississippi for state treasurer.


"[Burkes] has been an able Commissioner who has added a valuable viewpoint to the matters that have come before the board," said STB Chairman Roger Nober in a prepared statement.


Although Burkes' five-year term expired Dec. 31, he continued to serve as vice chairman.


Commissioner Linda Morgan now will remain a board member into May, said Nober. She previously intended to resign from the board effective April 8.
