Canadian Pacific Railway recently received Canadian Forces Liaison Council's award as the nation's most supportive employer of military personnel.


CPR's military-leave policy provides two weeks paid leave per year for all employees who serve Canada's Reserve Force. Paid leave also is available to reservists called to duty during civil emergencies or disasters. The railroad provides unpaid leave to workers serving in official community activities.


"CPR's policies acknowledge that many reservists must balance their career aspirations in private industry with their interest in public service through the Reserve Force," said CPR spokesman Paul Clark in a prepared statement.


Part of the Reserve Force, Canadian Forces comprises 23,000 members who usually serve on a part-time basis, and train during evenings and weekends.
