Rail News: Rail Industry Trends

CTA increases service on three lines

advertisement

Yesterday, the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) launched service improvements on several rail and bus lines.

The agency recently completed three-track operations at the Belmont and Fullerton stations, enabling CTA to resume normal operation on all four tracks.

Now, during morning and evening peak periods, Red Line trains will run every three-and-a-half to four minutes. The trains will operate eight minutes faster, so a trip from the Howard terminal to downtown Chicago will take 32 minutes instead of 40.

In addition, peak-period Brown Line trains will run every four minutes instead of every five, and operate seven minutes faster. CTA also will increase the frequency of Purple Line trains to the Loop from every 15 minutes to every eight minutes during peak periods.
