Yesterday, North Carolina’s Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) launched revenue service on its first light-rail corridor, the LYNX Blue Line.

The 9.6-mile, 15-station line runs from Interstate 485 at South Boulevard to downtown Charlotte. On weekdays, trains will operate every seven-and-a-half minutes during peak periods and every 15 minutes during non-peak periods. On weekends, trains will run every 20 minutes and 15 minutes during peak and non-peak hours, respectively.

CATS also has introduced 14 new bus routes and made changes to several existing routes so passengers can more easily connect to the light-rail line.
