The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) is conducting a survey to gather public input to inform the development of the Delaware State Rail Plan Update.
The Delaware State Rail Plan 2026 will be an update of the previous rail plan completed in 2011. The 2026 plan provides an overview of the passenger- and freight-rail network and services in Delaware, trends that will impact the state’s rail network in the future, and an outline of public and private investments, policies and strategies that will help guide the state’s support of the railroad network in the future, DelDOT officials said in the press release.
The survey will close Jan. 31.
In addition to public input, the department sought information for the plan from railroads serving Delaware as well as other stakeholders involved in rail policies, funding and projects.
