On May 29, Consolidated Fastfrate Inc. opened a 100,000-square-foot cross-dock and warehouse adjacent to Canadian Pacific Railway's Calgary, Alberta, intermodal terminal. The facility includes 81 docks, storage areas, offices and an advanced security system.

"Our efficient intermodal service and Consolidated Fastfrate's forwarding
solutions combine to give our customers unparalleled logistics efficiency," said CPR President and Chief Executive Officer Rob Ritchie in a prepared statement.

In 2001, Consolidated Fastfrate signed a 10-year, $400-million contract with CPR, the freight forwarder's exclusive rail provider.

"[The] facility helps us meet all our clients' logistics needs with a full menu of services, including short-term storage and inventory management, warehousing, distribution, transloading and less-than-truckload (LTL) shipping anywhere in North America," said Ron Tepper, president and CEO of Consolidated Fastfrate, an LTL consolidator that annually handles more than 2.6 million tons of freight.
