OmniTRAX Inc. Jan. 22 named Darcy Brede general manager of 810-mile Hudson Bay Railway based in The Pas, Manitoba.
Brede previously served in a number of senior positions within the Canadian railroad industry, including 15 years with BC Rail Ltd. He most recently served as BC Rail’s director of network operations, responsible for developing the railroad's centralized operations group.
"[Brede’s] vast experience in the operations and marketing of regional railways will be a significant asset as he directs the day-to-day operations of Hudson Bay Railway," said OmniTRAX Chief Operating Officer Gary Rennick in a prepared statement.
In addition to freight service, Hudson Bay Railway — which short-line holding company OmniTRAX has owned for the past five years — operates a scheduled intermodal service, and passenger service under a contract with VIA Rail Canada.
