Industrial Realty Group LLC has completed nearly $20 million worth of improvements at Macon Interstate Business Park in Georgia since acquiring the site last year.
In addition, 680,000 square feet and 23 acres have been leased, and developers are preparing to re-establish direct rail access on the site, IRG officials said in a press release.
"Attracting tenants to the property required significant investment into the infrastructure and interior space, which included upgrading lighting, installing new docks, painting, making repairs and selective demolition for increased efficiency," said IRG Vice President Justin Lichter. "And we're not done yet."
Rail lines on the site have been out of service for 15 years. Direct rail access and private track projects will be completed to tie manufacturers in the park to CSX and Norfolk Southern Railway lines.
The vacant former Brown and Williamson plant is now home to a variety of companies, including Irving Consumer Products, MWD Logistics and Wesco Distribution.
