Indiana county obtains federal dollars for NS/industrial park spur

Last week, Sen. Evan Bayh (D-Ind.) announced that Delaware County, Ind., will receive $2.3 million to build a rail spur connecting the Park One Business Park to a Norfolk Southern Railway line in Yorktown.

The U.S. Department of Commerce’s Economic Development Administration provided funding for the project through the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act.

The rail spur will support large-scale manufacturing companies at the business park, and help attract new business and employers, said Bayh in a prepared statement.

“Connecting Delaware County to the existing freight-rail track will spark economic development in the Muncie area,” he said.
