Kansas City Southern (KCS) and Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics recently reached an agreement to establish a finished vehicle distribution center adjacent to a Houston-area intermodal hub.

Wallenius will open the distribution center at CenterPoint Intermodal Center-Houston Metro (CIC-HM), an 800-acre intermodal and automotive logistics park located 35 miles southwest of Houston. The facility, which will provide new vehicle distribution services to three states, is situated on KCS’ new Victoria-to-Rosenberg, Texas, mainline.

Jointly developed by CenterPoint Properties and KCS, CIC-HM provides direct access to Nissan’s manufacturing facility in Aguascalientes, Mexico, and the Port of Lazaro Cardenas, Mexico.

"The facility has the rail capacity, highway access and available land to serve Nissan as the demand for new vehicles returns,” said Brian Bowers, KCS senior vice president of intermodal and automotive, in a prepared statement.
