KCSR to demolish former locomotive shop in Kansas

Later this week, the Kansas City Southern Railway Co. (KCSR) plans to begin staging equipment for the demolition of its former locomotive maintenance facility in Pittsburg, Kan. The demolition will take about three months to complete.
The facility is outdated and hasn’t been used for many years, KCSR officials said in a prepared statement.
The railroad plans to retain ownership of the land and is working with the city of Pittsburg’s economic development office to attract new rail-served industries to the area.
