League of Railway Women to kick off 'Railroading 101' series

The League of Railway Women (LRW) will offer the first event of its new Railroading 101 series with a free webinar to be hosted later this month by Luisa Fernandez-Willey, a senior economist with the Association of American Railroads (AAR).

Fernandez-Willey will provide an overview of U.S. freight railroads and current trends in rail traffic and the U.S. economy. The webinar will be presented Nov. 27.

"The webinar will be valuable for those new to the industry as well as people looking to broaden their understanding of rail industry operations and issues," said LRW President Tanis Peterson in a press release.

At AAR, Fernandez-Willey is responsible for conducting quantitative and qualitative research, and analysis on economic and policy issues affecting freight railroads. She also assists with data collection and production of several AAR publications.
