MARTA introduces permanent 'Breeze' smart cards

advertisement

The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) continues to implement its “Breeze” smart card-based fare collection system. The agency now is offering Breeze cards in all 38 stations.

Designed to last four years, the cards can hold up to $100 in fares. Passengers can register for a balance protection program through which they can recover any remaining balance if their card is lost or stolen.

The cards are a permanent version of the Breeze Ticket, which MARTA has been offering during the fare-collection system transition. The tickets — which expire 90 days after purchase and store up to $20 in fares — still will be available in all stations.
