Missouri DOT seeks public input on state's rail plan

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) is surveying Missourians on what they desire in a state rail services plan.

In a survey posted on www.modot.org, department officials are asking the public for their views on rail services, challenges, opportunities, costs and benefits.

Survey results and other information will be used to create a more comprehensive plan for freight-rail development, passenger rail and grade crossing safety, MoDOT officials said in a prepared statement.

"It's always a challenge to pay for all the transportation services and improvements Missourians tell us they want," said MoDOT Director Kevin Keith. "So how the state invests our rail transportation dollars says a lot about our priorities and has a major impact on the state's economy."
