Norfolk Southern Corp. Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer Wick Moorman expressed optimism about 2010 in his message to stockholders in the Class I’s 2009 annual report.

NS “withstood the economic shocks of 2009 to produce good economic results, and I go into 2010 with a sense of optimism for our future prospects,” said Moorman in the report, which was released last week.

Moorman added that compared to a year ago, “we have a much clearer picture of our own economic outlook and can act accordingly.”
