Rail News: Rail Industry Trends
Yesterday, President Bush announced he intends to nominate Charles Nottingham as a Surface Transportation Board (STB) member to serve the remainder of a five-year term expiring Dec. 31, 2010. If the nomination is confirmed by the Senate, Bush plans to install Nottingham as STB chairman.
Nottingham would succeed former Chairman Roger Nober, who left the board in December after his term expired to join law firm Steptoe & Johnson L.L.P.
Currently the Federal Highway Administration’s associate administrator for policy and government affairs, Nottingham previously served as counsel to the House Committee on Government Reform, and Subcommittee on Technology, Information Policy, Intergovernmental Relations and Census; and commonwealth transportation commissioner for the Virginia Department of Transportation.
