Congressmen James Oberstar (D-Minn.) and John Mica (R-Fla.) have been elected to head the House Transportation and Infrastructure (T&I) Committee in the 110th Congress. Oberstar will chair the committee, succeeding Rep. Don Young (R-Alaska); Mica will serve as the committee’s top-ranking Republican leader.

A congressman since 1974, Oberstar has served on the T&I committee since 1995.

Mica has served on the T&I committee since 1993. He also chairs the Aviation Subcommittee, and has been a member of the railroad, highways and transit subcommittees.

Oberstar and Mica will take over when the 110th Congress convenes in early January.
