Ohio rail commission to consider six freight-rail projects
advertisement
On Thursday, the Ohio Rail Development Commission (ORDC) will consider approving and/or funding several proposed freight-rail projects.
The Eastpointe Business Park near Zanesville plans to improve rail access by extending track farther into the 1,200-acre industrial park and adding lights and gates to grade crossings. The Zanesville-Muskingum County Port Authority is asking the ORDC to serve as project sponsor to access $475,000 in federal rail line relocation funds for the project.
Meanwhile, the Port Authority of Van Wert County is seeking a $500,000 state grant to rehabilitate a rail line to improve service for two existing companies.
The ORDC also will consider funding requests for repairs to a railroad bridge on a city of Greenfield-owned rail line in Highland County and for a steel transloading facility on the Cleveland Commercial Railroad; hear briefings on a staff-approved project aimed at rehabilitating an Indiana & Ohio Railroad line from Lancaster to Logan; and consider whether to approve a rail bridge repair project in Ashtabula County.
