The Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) is soliciting public opinions on the 2026 state rail plan.
The plan is regularly updated to reflect the latest freight- and passenger-rail project priorities and position Oklahoma stakeholders for federal funding, ODOT officials said in a press release.
ODOT will present its proposed updates during a virtual informational meeting on Dec. 9. Registration is available here.
Materials and a survey will be available on ODOT's rail plan webpage after the meeting. Survey responses are due Jan. 31, 2026, ODOT officials said. Another public meeting will be held after the draft rail plan is released.
The most recent rail plan was updated in 2021. In the new plan, ODOT will take inventory of and review all rail lines, analyze rail's contribution to the state, catalog and assess potential infrastructure projects, examine financing challenges and review safety improvement projects, ODOT officials said.
