On April 20, the Panama Canal Railway Co. (PCRC) expects to receive Princess Cruises’ award as the canal’s 2003-04 C.R.U.I.S.E. High Volume Shore Excursion of the Year.

A joint venture between Kansas City Southern and Lanigan Holdings L.L.C., PCRC provides daily passenger and commuter rail service between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.

PCRC subsidiary and tourist train provider Panarail Tourism Co. consistently receives high ratings and positive passenger comments, according to a prepared statement. Trains pass through a rain forest, and alongside the Panama Canal and former U.S. bases.

During its first season of operation in 2001-02, the tourist road carried 8,500 passengers; in 2002-03, it carried 35,000 passengers; and in 2003-04, is expected to carry more than 50,000 passengers.

This is the third-straight year PCRC has received Princess Cruises’ shore excursion award.
