Patriot Rail assigns six execs to key posts

Yesterday, Patriot Rail Corp. — which owns 13 short lines operating in 12 states — announced the following appointments:

• Lawrence Rutstein has been promoted to senior vice president-special projects and administration. He has more than 40 years of legal and business experience, and joined Patriot Rail in 2007;

• Martin Smith has been named VP-human resources. Most recently site human resources director for Sandoz Pharmaceuticals, he has more than 30 years of human resources experience;

• Wayne August has been promoted to VP-corporate development. An 18-year rail industry veteran — including stints at RailAmerica Inc. and CSX Transportation — he joined Patriot Rail in 2007 and since has led its mergers/acquisitions and corporate communications efforts;

• Joyce Belfour has been promoted to VP and corporate controller. Belfour, who has more than 25 years of private and public accounting experience, joined Patriot Rail in 2007 as corporate controller;

• Jim DiJoseph has been named director of information technology. He has more than 16 years of IT experience, including nine years at RailAmerica; and

• Brian Corridon has been named assistant controller. He most recently was controller for building services contractor Crestwood Services Inc.
